Do you dry age your beef?Yes, all of our beef is dry aged for 14 days. Dry aging beef is a time-honored technique that improves the meat's flavor, tenderness, and texture: Flavor: The process dehydrates the meat, concentrating its flavor and increasing the ratio of fat to muscle. The meat's natural enzymes break down large, flavorless molecules like glycogen, DNA, and RNA into smaller, more flavorful fragments. For example, proteins break down into amino acids, and glycogen breaks down into sugars. The result is a rich, dense, beefy flavor that some describe as intense. Tenderness: The enzymes also break down the meat's connective tissue, making it more tender. Texture: The dry-aging process also shrinks the meat as water evaporates from the muscle tissue. The longer the meat is aged, the more it shrinks, and the more its taste, texture, and yield change. The dry and flavorful surfaces of aged beef are easy to caramelize in the pan.

How is your beef different from the beef I can buy in my local grocery store? It all comes down to taste, healthiness and treatment of the animal. In short our beef: - does not have any artificial flavors or ingredients added - is minimally processed - is majority of the lifetime pasture raised with grass and then grain finished to increase marbling (approximately 90% / 10%) - is aged for a minimum of 14 days prior to packaging which helps provide enhanced flavor and tenderness - supports your local small business
-
Where is your beef raised and processed? All of our cattle are raised and processed in the great state of Texas, period.
-
What is your cattle fed?All of our cattle are raised on Texas pastures on a primarily grass fed diet supplemented as needed. They are finished for a short period of their lives with grain in order to increase marbling necessary to increase the flavorful nature of our beef. You can expect that approximately 90% of their feed is grass based with the remaining 10% being grain based.

Is your beef USDA inspected?Yes. The USDA inspection processes are highly regarded as symbols of safe, high-quality American beef. Beef is evaluated by highly-skilled USDA meat inspectors using a subjective characteristic assessment process and electronic instruments to measure meat attributes. These characteristics follow the official standards developed, maintained and interpreted by the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service. We are proud to take the added effort to ensure your beef products are of the utmost quality and level of safety.

How can I order from Puro Beef? You can order at our website or directly at our ranch at 5350 S Loop 1604 W Von Ormy, TX 78073.

Do you ship your beef frozen?Yes, we ship all orders frozen and it will arrive cold. We ship each order directly from our ranch and thus the products will still be cold when they arrive on your doorstep. Our shipments are packed with dry ice/gel packs - if your order arrives and there is no dry ice, do not panic. Dry ice sublimates (evaporates and disappears!) over time. We don’t require a signature for delivery. But since your box is shipped with dry ice, we recommend getting the items into your freezer as soon as you can! Per USDA guidelines, raw meat can be refrozen or consumed as long as it is 42 degrees or colder. When you receive your order, you should immediately refrigerate or freeze all raw meat items. We recommend that you freeze or cook all meat products within 1 week or arrival for best results. Items can remain frozen for up to a year after receiving. Once items are removed from the plastic, they should be consumed within 48 hours. DRY ICE WARNING: Dry ice can cause frostbite if handled with bare hands and is harmful if swallowed. Dry ice is sometimes sent in bags and can sometimes appear to be empty bags because it evaporated. If there's dry ice remaining when your box is delivered, please always use protective oven mitts or a heavy towel to remove it. Dry ice can crack certain surfaces, so once you've removed it from your box, we recommend letting it evaporate outside. If the items in your box are thawed upon arrival, it’s okay. In accordance with USDA guidelines, the items don’t need to arrive frozen, so long as they feel cold to the touch. The items are all set to be put in your freezer.

I placed an order then changed my mind. Can I cancel it or get a refund?Unfortunately, all sales are final. This allows us to better control our inventory and keep our slaughter schedule tight. For the same there are no refunds, returns or exchanges on any of our products. Thank you for understanding!
-
Can I redirect my box to a different address while in transit? We aren't able to update the shipping address once a box is in transit, because this causes the carrier to then hold the box for several days at a sorting facility while they process the update. Because of this several-day-long delay, the box unfortunately would then arrive warm.
